Electrical apprenticeship & licensing
Tennessee electrical apprentice requirements.
Tennessee does not use one statewide apprentice-to-journeyman ladder for all electrical work. Licensing depends heavily on project value and local jurisdiction: LLE covers qualifying work under $25,000 where accepted, while the CE contractor classification applies to larger electrical contracting.

Current licensing facts
Local licensing matters before anything else
Tennessee specifically instructs electricians to check the local government because major municipalities may use their own licensing systems rather than the state LLE.
The LLE is not a journeyman or master license
Tennessee’s own materials distinguish the LLE from local journeyman/master credentials and the CE contractor license.
Contractor reciprocity is really a trade-exam waiver
Tennessee states that an out-of-state license does not authorize work in Tennessee. Reciprocal agreements can waive the contractor trade exam, but the applicant still must obtain a Tennessee license.

Electrical license reciprocity / portability
Tennessee currently lists contractor trade-exam waiver agreements for electrical licensing with Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and West Virginia. The waiver applies to the contractor program, not LLE or local journeyman/master licenses.
