Electrical apprenticeship & licensing
Indiana electrical apprentice requirements.
Indiana does not use one statewide general electrician license for ordinary electrical work. Local building departments commonly control electrician, contractor, and apprentice registrations.

Current licensing facts
Indiana requires a local-authority check
The city or county where the work occurs can control whether an apprentice, journeyman, or contractor registration is required.
Local rules can materially change the path
Allen County’s published rules, for example, define apprentice registration and a journeyman-testing route that may not match another Indiana jurisdiction.
State apprenticeship resources still matter
Apprenticeship Indiana provides a statewide entry point for registered apprenticeship even though occupational electrical licensing is largely local.

Match the reference to the license and jurisdiction.
This state does not have one verified statewide individual-electrician exam profile that applies in every jurisdiction. Verify the city, county, state contractor board, or apprenticeship authority first, then select the matching NEC edition.

Electrical license reciprocity / portability
Indiana has no single statewide general-electrician reciprocity scheme comparable to Wyoming or Texas. Recognition of an out-of-area electrician license or exam generally depends on the local building department or licensing authority.
