Delaware has one of the more complete statewide ladders

The Board licenses apprentice, journeyperson, residential, limited, master, and specialty electricians rather than relying only on contractor licensing.

Approved apprenticeship simplifies later licensure

Applicants who complete a registered/approved apprenticeship can use the completion certificate when applying for higher electrician license classes.

Electrical license reciprocity / portability

Delaware offers reciprocity for Master/Limited electrician applicants when another jurisdiction’s standards are substantially similar or when the applicant satisfies the Board’s alternate reciprocity conditions. Maryland currently lists Delaware as a reciprocal state for Master and Journeyperson electrician pathways under stated conditions.
